I hear a lot of people always talking about big decisions that change their lives but what about small decisions? Can they really change your whole life? I would have to say yes! Small decisions actually add up to where you are today. The small decisions help you get to your larger decisions that change everything.
Here is what I mean: Almost 20 years ago, Feb 2, 2002, I was on a Singles Christian Website looking for someone to chat with. I was bored and usually didn’t contact someone on it unless they had a picture with their profile.
Well a very small insignificant decision I made (or so I thought) was to message Sandy even though I usually don’t when they had no profile picture. Another insignificant small decision was on Sandy’s side and that was the only reason she was on that site at that given time is someone messaged her and she was on deleting that email. Within our story there were many small decisions that lead up to us meeting too which you can go to the about us section and read what led to that for me (Chris).
Talk about 2 very small decisions. What if either of us had changed our minds on either of that? There were also several small decisions that led up to us setting our wedding date which was only 16 days later. Yes we were CRAZY but we just knew this was from God, we set the wedding date 16 days after we met online and we set it for Oct 5th, 2002. Now that was the first very big decision we made but without those 2 small decisions at the beginning, we would not be here together, today.
I have to say God has been awesome to us, we have been talking now for 11 years and married almost 11 years. Oct 5th of this year will be our 11th wedding anniversary. WOW, where did the time go?
Again from those 2 small decisions we would have not been together for almost 11 years, we just had a little baby boy on Jan 11, 2012 and a future that looks as bright as we have seen.
Has this road been easy? Of course not but it’s been so worth it. Anything great God has for you, you will have to work hard for it but in the long run it will always be worth it.
There are so many decisions that I thought were small in my life that when I look back now they led me to where I am today. We can’t go from big decision to big decision. We have to go from little decision to little decision that leads us to the bigger decisions.
When is the last time you made a big decision but had no small decisions that led you there? I would say never in my opinion. Every major decision in life is always preceded by several smaller decisions that get us to that point.
So what am I trying to say here? Go out and realize that all of your smaller decisions are what really matter in life. It is those decisions that lead you to your future. You may be at a point in your life that you have to make that major decision and that is fine, just lean on God and follow what he tells you to do. You can’t go wrong with that.
The next time you look at your life and all of your decisions seem so small, just remember that it is those decisions that made you into the man or woman you are today and it will be those small decisions you are making today that will make you into the man or woman you are tomorrow!
