It is really easy to allow life to get in your way and start drifting from God. I realize how important this one verse is to moving closer to God:
Joshua 1:8 – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
I understand the meaning of that verse now. We allowed life to get in our way over the last 6 months or so. We used to have a routine where we listened to 5-6 sermons a week and studied as much as we can and attended everything at our church.
Through our church we still do a lot but not everything we used to do. We do have a great excuse in that we just had a toddle now but that’s it, it’s only an excuse. We could have made more time in the last 6 months for God than we have.
My wife and I were talking recently about this subject and have come to realize that we have drifted from God some. I am so glad that we have realized this before we drifted in a major way so we can change it. Following Christ really is a daily activity in order to keep your mind, body & spirit in tune with God.
Creating a routine for God may sound mundane but it’s what drives you to keep the fire in your heart. If you want your fire for Christ to be lit, get in the word. If you want your fire to stay lit, stay in the word daily, if you want your fire to make a difference, do the word!
That last line says it all. If you are ready to take a step closer to Christ then don’t just read the word but act on the word within your life. Move forward in Faith and watch God move miracles into your life.
Remember, you may have pulled away from God, but it’s never too late to rededicate your life back to Christ. If that is you then NOW is the time to turn back toward God so that he can give you a vision and you can fulfill his mission on earth. I don’t care if you are 20 or 50, God still has big plans for your life. Find it and MOVE! Then you can get to Heaven one day and hear him say, well done thy good and faithful servant!
