Going Through The Motions?

Have you come to a point in your life where you feel like you are just going through the motions? Does it feel like you are just in a rut, going nowhere and your life has become routine? Well this happens to all of us from time to time.

I have felt that way for the past few weeks and have realized what has happened. There have been several things that my wife and I do and we have slacked over the last few weeks because we have let life get in the way. You can’t let life get in the way of your growth especially spiritual growth!

Has what you do just become a routine and feels like you are in the rat race where no one really wins? You know you are on the spinning wheel where there is no end in sight? If that is you then it’s time to STOP and re-examine your life and where you are going. Where is God leading you? Where is he leading but you have slacked off?

Could it be that your routine is going to church and just going through the motions there? You know, you look good on the outside, everyone around you thinks you have it all together but you know deep down you just don’t? You are doing your part as you see it but something just doesn’t fit.

Well this is where you need to change from a mentality of doing everything in your heart to doing what God wants you to do. Yes this is easier said than done but when done right, you will find yourself back in the movement of making life exciting again.

Life doesn’t have to be dull, it can be fun and exciting and living everyday can feel like you are actually doing something that matters. If you feel that your life doesn’t matter then it’s time to fully surrender to Christ. When you get to this point you will find out what direction God wants you to go in rather than you going without God.

God wants great things for you and I but we have to have the faith to find out what he wants. Here is the huge part, once you figure out what he wants then GO! Yes I said just go, don’t question but go. Once you move forward toward where he is leading you, he will guide you where he wants.

This may be hard at first because as humans, we all feel the need to be in 100% control of everything especially in the direction of our lives. Our lives do matter to God and yes God has a planned purpose for you. If you are married then his plan is going to be a shared purpose for the two of you.

As much as I have read in the bible, I have never seen anywhere that talks about when two people marry that they are to have separate purposes in life. In fact I read just the opposite where he talks about that the two shall become one.

Becoming one is more than sex like a ton of people think. Becoming one is about being one in life and purpose. Becoming one is a spiritual issue. When the two of you aren’t on the same page in life, life becomes more difficult and that is not God’s plan for your life.

I am not an expert by any means but I know that God is not going to call two people to become one to then split them up into different purposes in life. That would go against everything that the bible teaches from what I see.

Whether you are married or not you still need to allow God to take you to the place he sees you at. God will never lead you astray. When you feel astray then maybe it’s you who pulled away and not God from you. Just open your heart back up to God or if you have never opened your heart then open it right now and ask Christ to come into your life. FULLY surrender your life to him and watch what God does in and through you.

God will use you in a mighty way for his purpose. Just remember though, once you ask him to guide you then you better be ready because God will take you to places you did not intend to go to accomplish things in and through you that you could never do alone!
