Do you go through life worrying about everything or are you living on Faith? It is really easy for us to get into the habit of living in fear instead of living on Faith. Living on faith is as much of a habit as living in fear. One comes from God and the other comes from satan.
2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
God is very clear that we should not fear life. We are only to fear him. Many people instead choose to live their life with much fear and worry.
Fear and worry will destroy your life. There is nothing that will kill your creativity in life more than fear and worry. When you worry about things you are paying interest on a debt that you don’t even realize.
Fear not is mentioned many times in the Bible. I am not sure the exact number of times since many people say different numbers, but it is a lot! There is a reason that it is mentioned so much. It is because we are supposed to live our life with no fear of tomorrow but instead live on faith today.
Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
God wants you to focus on him, not your problems. When we keep our eyes and hearts on him we are living each day in Faith. Fear says life is tough, so why try, but faith says life may seem tough for me but with God on my side, I can’t lose.
Does this mean that life gets easy when we serve God or when we step out in faith and that everything just falls into place? “NO!” God never said that life would be easy but he did say that he would be with us through it all. He may not take your problem away but he will either steer you around or through it.
Do not fear your tomorrow for then there is no power in the present. When you have hope in your tomorrow you add power to your today. Life can come at us fast and sometimes things happen in our life that will make us worry, but as long as God is with us then nothing will defeat us.
When we worry we also lose all of our power. Our true power comes from hope and faith in today. Living on faith is not just something you do but a way of living.
You don’t just live on faith from time to time, you live on faith in your everyday life. If you lean on God for your eternity then why in the world would you not lean on him for your everyday living? God wants to be there for you. He wants to comfort you just like you want to comfort your kids.
God is ready for you, but are you ready to give him all the power? Are you ready to say whatever your will is I will do? It takes a lot of faith to live a life called by God. God is going to take you to places that help you grow as a person. Instead of worrying about a situation ask yourself, what if this does happen? You will handle it as it comes.
I read a study that talked about of 100 different things that we worry about 95% of them won’t come true. Four of them come true, but work out to be a blessing and only one comes true the way we see it. So remember when you worry, only 1% of the time will it come true, so why bother worrying?
Worrying takes your life right out from under you. I know people that worry about life so much that they stay cooped up in their home or church almost 24/7. Have you seen people that are at church every time they open the doors? I am not saying they shouldn’t be, but shouldn’t we also be out in the real world so that we can run into people?
If everyone stays in church 24/7 then who is going to be out talking to people about Christ? Who is going to be there for others when they need a Christian friend to lean on? Who is going to help their kids grow in strength when their kids only see the church and home and no action in the real world is taken to change lives?
We have to live our life by faith and not fear. We have to go towards our fears and know that our faith will win out. You know what happens when you do what you fear? The fear goes away!
Are you growing your faith daily? Do you realize that faith is like a body part, the more you exercise it the stronger it grows. But also the less you exercise faith, the weaker your faith becomes.
Granted, some people have been given more faith than the average person. For me, faith is my top spiritual gift but God gives us all some faith. The more we build on that faith the stronger it will develop.
If faith isn’t your spiritual gift, that doesn’t give you an excuse not to step out on faith. It may be a little harder for you to do that but God still expects some form of faith. He doesn’t need people so worried about life that they lose all of their faith.
So what do you do from this point? First find something this week that scares you and go face it! Once you face it you will see that fear was really fake. It wasn’t what you thought. Then from that point start stepping out on faith as God calls you to. God will direct you each day and he may even test you on this.
He may ask you to move on something that scares you but do it anyway. Not only is this God’s way of growing you spiritually but you will feel better about yourself as you take on the challenges that God gives you. He loves you too much to just let you sit around and stay in places that never challenge you.
Ask God to give you a renewal in your faith. Ask him to give you the courage to step out on faith each day and the tenacity to keep the faith even when things seem to be falling apart. Ask him to give you the strength to handle anything that comes your way so that your life can be an example of pure faith. Ask him to put people in your life that will challenge you spiritually and help your faith grow. Ask him to allow you to be an example of living on faith so that it can change lives.
