One Moment Can Change Everything!

Do you realize that one moment can change everything in your life? That happened to us back in 2010. When God is ready to get your attention, he will get it no matter what he has to do. Sometimes he may use things that you will not believe. Well in 2010, God used food to change us. That’s right, food!

Here is the story. that year, we were not even following God at all. We still believed but we weren’t attending church or doing anything for God at that point. Our inspiration website was still up and running but that’s it. We weren’t adding anything to it or doing anything for God in any way. We weren’t talking to people about God or even reading the bible even though we knew we should.

Well it was around June of 2010 and we always look for events to go to. We love to network with people and hey when there is food there even better. Well, Sandy found a church thing on Wednesdays that if you come to their Wednesday night summer events they had food with it for FREE. We weren’t sure if we should go but we thought well this is a church thing so maybe we can get fed both with food and spiritually. We went 3 Wednesdays and then we decided that we should try their Sunday Services.

We were actually excited about starting back at church by this point. We went one Sunday and I thought to myself I am not sure if this church is for me but I would like to start going to church again. I felt that God was trying to say something. Then in the middle of that service I felt like God said Savannah Christian. Some people may think I am crazy but I felt that. The crazy part is for some reason we never considered Savannah Christian Church even though we had friends that went there.

Well after that service was over I asked Sandy what she thought of that church and come to find out she felt like me that it wasn’t the church we should be at. Nothing against that church, just for us it wasn’t where we felt right. I told Sandy that I felt like we are supposed to go to Savannah Christian so she said lets do it.

I also told her that I felt like we are supposed to become members of that church. I can hear many people say that I may be getting ahead of myself but this tug was so strong on that. The funny part is, even though Sandy didn’t tell me at that time, she thought I was crazy. How could we know we were going to be members of the church before we even went especially after how we felt from the church we just tried BUT I knew deep in my heart I heard from God. We started reviewing the church online once we got home and told some Facebook friends and everything that we concluded was that we would feel right there.

That following week, we went to Savannah Christian Church now for over 3 years. I serve at the church and just LOVE it. People still think this story is crazy but I know deep down in my heart that God was speaking to me on that Sunday afternoon. We have grown so much since we started at Savannah Christian. This was where we were supposed to be!

Because of that one decision that was about food our lives have been 100% turned around. We have launched several blogs since. We look back as that was the change of 2010 for us! 2010 was our Miracle year.

Back in December 2009, we thought wow we are going to have a breakthrough year financially but now as we look back on 2010, we didn’t have a financial breakthrough at all but a HUGE spiritual one. We didn’t get from God what we wanted but we did get what we needed! He always knows best.

The reason I am telling this story is that you have no idea what moment in your life is going to change everything. That one moment will lead to another moment and another which will shape the person you become. Don’t let small moments seem small because every moment is a place in your life that could change the whole direction of your life.

We can look at so many different moments in our life where the small moments led us to where we needed to be. I know that many people including Dr. Phil always talk about the Defining Moments but it is the little moments that lead us to the defining moments.

Think about that? Every defining moment you may have in your life was led by a ton of smaller moments that didn’t seem like much at the time but when added together helped lead you to your defining moment. At that point is where everything clicked! Like for us, the defining moment back in 2010 was starting at Savannah Christian but one of our little moments was going to an even with food. Go figure! God works in amazing ways. There is more that has happened to us since those moments and I will tell more as time goes.

So the next time in your life when you feel the small moments just remember that moment you can’t get back so its a huge part of your story!

Be Inspired or Be Left-Behind,

Chris Benton
