What happens if tomorrow is your last day on earth? Will you live it on your own terms or someone elses? This blog entry may have a lot of questions but I think these questions really need to be answered.
If you were to go right now, what would the dash mean on your tombstone? What will you be known for? Do you want to be known as someone who inspires others or do you want to be known for doing nothing with your life? Which would you choose because it is your choice?
The time is now to create what you want to be known for. Don’t let another day go by that you aren’t creating what you want to be known for. I think that one of the most powerful questions that you can answer is what do you want to be known for?
As for me, here are a few things I would want to be known for. When people think of me I want people to know that I am a very passionate person. I am passionate about God , my wife and family. I am passionate about helping marriages heal. I am passionate about helping people move to the next level in their life. Everything about me involves passion.
I want people to be able to say his word was his bond. What he says he does. I want people to say he had vision and faith like I have never seen in many people. I want people to be able to look me in my eyes and say he truly loves his wife because I do!
Now that we have a 20 month old, I would want people to be able to say he has done his part as a father, a husband and a man of God.
I also would like people to say I may or may not agree with him but I have to respect where he stands because he 100% believes in his heart what he believes and will not back down on it.
So in other words I want people to see that I have a passion for God, my wife and son and life in general. Everything else falls behind them!
The big question is how long do you have and what will you be known for when your time is up? We have no idea when it is our time to go. Are you doing everything you want in your life? Are you happy with the direction of your life? If you aren’t then why not?
Sit down with your spouse if you are married and talk to each other right now. Ask each other if you are living up to each others expectations and if not then let them know you will change. Find out deep down what your passions are and follow them with all your heart.
If you are married, find that shared passion that God has put in each of you and follow where God leads you. Life is short and none of us know when our last day will be but we can make each day count.
I love the quote “it’s not about putting years in your life but in putting life in your years!” That is a powerful quote! Think about it? So many people live all their life but they never really live. If that is you it’s time to take your life by the hands and change whatever you need to so that when you get to the end of your life, you can look back with great joy and very little regret.
You will not be on your deathbed asking why didn’t I spend more time at work but probably will be asking why you didn’t spend more time with your family and doing other things that really matter in life. Don’t let another day go by without asking some serious thought-provoking questions so that you can live your life the way God intended you to live!
