I see a lot of people believe that you have to go for success and then once you obtain that then you can go for significance and there was even a book written on that. If you are a success then yes you should be focusing on becoming significant but I want to explain here if you are not a success yet that you will go through your struggles first then that leads to some kind of significance which in turn leads to success.
Here is what I mean, many people that got for success never achieve success and all the stats prove this. Many people never reach their full potential because they are stuck on trying to be a success. Nothing is wrong with success and that is an important part of life of course but what if you wait until you are a success to become significant and you never reach any success? That would also mean you never reach any kind of significance if you follow that route.
Think about this also, if you go after success and get it then you try to reach significance, does it really take Faith? Really think about that. The more successful you already are the less Faith it takes when you are trying to do something great for the glory of God!
Imagine you are in the middle of your struggles and you decide that you will follow where God is leading you that will bring Glory to God and you have no money right now? What kind of Faith does that take? A TON! You see you are fully depending on God because the money is the struggle right now.
I am not saying this is the right way to lead a life that God is calling you but I want to point out that this way leads to significance with Faith and that is important. I have watched many people going for success but I know in my heart where God is trying to lead them based on some of the conversations but they won’t listen because they bought into this lie that success has to come before significance and that is not true.
So my formula is, you go through life struggles then that leads to some ah-ha moments that God opens some doors for you to step through and then as you step through you end up as a by-product of your calling a success! I would rather fail in my purpose to one day succeed than to succeed in something now to one day never go after my purpose.
Another reason you should go after significance first is that you have no idea how long you will live. What if you reach success to then God brings you home the next day? You never did get a chance to do something significant for God. Don’t waste these precious moments because you can never get them back.
This isn’t to say that you can’t be working on a business while you work on your significance because that is possible too and I have seen it done. I just don’t want you to wait on trying to build a life of purpose after you build a life of success. If you do, you may just end up with a life full of regrets!
