Today, something is weighing on my heart. I feel the need to talk about closing some doors. So often, we wait on God to open new doors, but what we may not realize is that sometimes, God is waiting on us to close a few first. He knows that if He opens new doors while we’re still holding onto old ones, we’ll be too scattered to step forward in faith with focus.
Think about it—are there any doors in your life that you need to close? If so, don’t wait. Closing a door now, even when it’s hard, will help prevent that painful moment when life forces it shut. I’ve known people who rode one door as long as they could, and when it finally shut, their whole world crumbled. Don’t let that be you. If you’re reading this, maybe God’s trying to get your attention. I don’t know the door you need to close, but I have a feeling you do.
It’s time to refocus your attention on God and let Him take you to the next level. God is willing and able, but He’s looking for you to take that first step. Faith isn’t passive—it’s forward movement. Remember, God doesn’t steer parked cars! Taking that step of faith, even when you can’t see the next door yet, is what prepares you for where He’s leading. God is doing something within you, and if you let Him, He’ll accomplish incredible things through you.
Many people talk about moving forward to where God is leading, but here’s a truth we don’t always hear: moving forward means closing the doors on what’s behind us. Just like driving a car, you can’t get far if you’re focused on the rear-view mirror.
If you’re ready to go to the next level, ask God for wisdom to know which doors need closing and which should open. Pray for courage to let go of what no longer serves you and patience to stay on the path, even when it feels like you’re going nowhere.
