As we prepare to reboot the show with a new name and direction, I want to share why this change is significant and how our faith has guided this transition. Shifting from The Chris & Sandy Show to The Chris Benton Show is more than just a name change; it’s a step of obedience and trust in God’s plan for this season of our lives.
The Vision Remains Unchanged
First and foremost, the heart of the show remains the same. We are still focused on the entertainment industry, and our tagline, Up Close & Personal, captures the essence of what we do. When I interview guests, my goal is to go beyond surface-level conversations and create a space where they feel valued and comfortable. As Proverbs 20:5 reminds us, “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.” That’s what we strive to do—to draw out stories that inspire and connect us all.
Why the Change?
This transition was born out of prayerful conversations between Sandy and me. While we’ve loved building this show together, Sandy has felt a growing need to step back from the spotlight. She loves what we’ve created, but as Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This is a season for her to focus on homeschooling our children among other things and supporting the show in ways that align with her strengths and passions among other things.
Homeschooling our two children has become a significant priority for Sandy. Proverbs 22:6 encourages us to, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” By dedicating her time to their education, Sandy is fulfilling a vital part of our family’s calling.
Respecting Individual Callings
One of the most profound lessons we’ve learned through this process is the importance of respecting each other’s unique callings. While I thrive in the dynamic environment of hosting and interviewing, Sandy’s heart is with our family. Romans 12:6 reminds us, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” By leaning into our God-given strengths, we’re able to support each other and honor the roles He has designed for us.
Flexibility and Faith
This change has also reinforced the need for flexibility. Life rarely goes according to our plans, but as Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” By allowing Sandy the freedom to step back and engage on her terms, we’ve created space for God to work in new ways—both in the show and in our family.
Sandy will still play a role in the show, often joining for the opening segments, and her contributions behind the scenes will remain invaluable. This shift is not about separation but about aligning with God’s purpose for this season.
Communication and Partnership
Through prayer and open communication, we’ve navigated this transition as a team. Amos 3:3 asks, “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” Walking in agreement has strengthened our marriage and reminded us that even difficult decisions can lead to growth when guided by faith.
Trusting God’s Timing
This journey has been a powerful reminder to trust God’s timing. Stepping back in one area often allows growth in another. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” By trusting in Him, we’ve found peace in this new direction.
Moving Forward with Faith
While I’ll miss having Sandy by my side on every episode, I’m excited about what’s ahead. Her decision to focus on homeschooling and operate behind the scenes doesn’t diminish her role; it amplifies it. Together, we’re building something that reflects our shared vision and honors God’s plan for our lives.
As we move into this new chapter, I’m reminded of Philippians 1:6: “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” This show has always been about more than entertainment; it’s a platform to inspire, uplift, and connect. I’m trusting that God will continue to use it for His glory.
A Final Word of Gratitude
To everyone who has supported us on this journey, thank you. Your encouragement and prayers mean the world to us. As we embrace this new season, I’m confident that the best is yet to come. Here’s to new beginnings, deeper conversations, and God’s unwavering guidance in 2025 and beyond.
