As we step into 2025, I’m embracing the word Ignite as my guiding theme for the year. This word represents my desire to spark new beginnings, reignite passions, and fuel purpose-driven actions. It’s a call to pursue what sets my heart on fire and to inspire others to do the same. With this in mind, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past few months and share some lessons that emerged from one simple decision—writing every day. New Year’s Day is full of hope and possibility, and if you’ve been waiting for a sign to pursue that passion you’ve been holding back, maybe this can be it.
This past October, I decided to dive back into writing. I didn’t know what to expect, but here I am, 56 articles later, feeling more aligned with my purpose than ever before. Writing consistently for three months has been transformative, not just for my craft but for my perspective on life and the value of sharing stories.
Rediscovering the Power of Writing
At first, I wondered if I still had valuable things to say. Doubt crept in, but once I began writing, I found that the words were waiting to surface. Each article became more than just content—it was a reflection of my journey, my growth, and my desire to inspire others. Writing has reconnected me with my passion, allowing me to process life, faith, and purpose in a new light. Often, we underestimate the healing and clarity that can come from putting thoughts into words.
Key Lessons Along the Way
🌟 1. Consistency is EVERYTHING
Some days, writing felt effortless. On other days, I had to wrestle for every word. But I showed up regardless, and that consistency built a sense of confidence I hadn’t expected. Writing every day, even if it wasn’t a full article, reinforced the importance of perseverance. Some days, I only managed to jot down a few words or phrases, but I still did something. Growth isn’t always visible in the moment, but over time, it becomes undeniable. Consistency creates a foundation where creativity can thrive. It’s not about producing something groundbreaking every day; it’s about showing up and trusting that each effort compounds over time. Trust the process, and you’ll find that growth unfolds in ways you never expected.
🌟 2. Progress Over Perfection
Once I embraced consistency, I shifted my focus to valuing progress over perfection. I didn’t always feel like each article was polished to perfection, but I learned to trust the process, knowing that every word, even if imperfect, was moving me forward. Some pieces turned out better than others, but the important part was showing up and writing consistently. Progress often comes through the act of doing, not waiting for the perfect moment. Each “imperfect” article contributed to sharpening my voice and refining my message. I’ve realized that perfection can often paralyze potential, while progress, even if small, keeps the journey alive.
🌟 3. Your Voice Matters
There were moments when I questioned whether anyone would resonate with my words. But each article seemed to reach someone at the right moment. Our stories hold immense power, and even if just one person feels seen or encouraged by what we share, that makes the effort worthwhile. We often convince ourselves that our experiences aren’t unique enough to matter, but I’ve learned that authenticity transcends originality. Someone out there needs the story only you can tell, and your willingness to speak up can be the spark that ignites their path.
🌟 4. Momentum is Real
The more I wrote, the easier it became to generate ideas. Creativity has a way of multiplying when nurtured. By the time I hit article 30, I noticed that inspiration came more naturally, and writing became something I looked forward to each day. Momentum is a powerful force, and the more we engage with our passions, the more doors open. Momentum isn’t just about creativity—it spills over into confidence, discipline, and personal growth. The hardest part is starting, but once you begin, it’s like a snowball rolling downhill, gathering size and speed.
🌟 5. Start Small, but Start Now
Waiting for the perfect time or ideal conditions often delays the pursuit of passion. I found that starting small—writing a little each day—created momentum that grew over time. If you feel called to something, begin with small, manageable steps. Those small steps add up to big progress. I’ve realized that too often, we allow the size of our dreams to intimidate us into inaction. But the reality is, great things are often born from humble beginnings. Don’t despise small starts; they are the seeds of something greater.
🌟 6. Share the Journey, Not Just the Finish Line
I learned that people connect more deeply when you let them into the process, not just the end result. Sharing victories, struggles, and lessons along the way builds authenticity and encourages others to embark on their own journeys. Vulnerability fosters connection and growth. People are drawn to stories that are real and relatable. The more I shared, the more I realized that the process—the messy, uncertain parts—is often what resonates the most. When we invite others into the journey, we create community and inspire courage.
What’s Next?
I don’t plan to slow down. Writing has become a part of my daily life, and I’m eager to continue sharing messages of faith, purpose, and redemption. I’ll also be preparing to step into more speaking opportunities in 2025, expanding how I share my story on and off the page. Writing has rekindled a desire to connect with people face-to-face, bringing these messages of hope and restoration directly to audiences.
As I step into this next season, I’m excited to see how writing and speaking will intertwine, opening new doors and deepening my impact. Each article serves as a reminder that the journey matters just as much as the destination.
To anyone feeling the nudge to return to something they love—whether it’s writing, music, or any other passion—this is your sign to start. Ignite that spark within you. You never know how far it might take you.
Living a God-Inspired Life,
Chris
